Michelle is currently enrolled in the LPN program at Haney Technical Center. Since she was a child she has always wanted to be a nurse and to take care of people. She states that with the Haney Scholarship she is able to pursue her life-long dream of becoming a nurse. She is so grateful for the opportunity and assistance given. She states, “It’s a wonderful feeling knowing that my nursing dream is about to become a reality.”
Destini is a senior in the Haney LPN program. She has been married for 9 years and has three children ages 10, 8 and 6. She has worked in the medical field for 11 years as a CNA before attending Haney. Destini said she was extremely grateful for the award and very thankful for the instructors in submitting her name.
Julie has been trying to return to school to take nursing since 1991 after her family received amazing care after a very bad car wreck. She realized then how important the nursing profession is. When she and her husband found themselves approaching 50 they decided that it was now or never. Julie said this scholarship will make it possible for her to complete the LPN course and to have the career she has waited 20 years to begin. She wants to thank Haney Foundation for making this dream a reality for her and her family.
Elizabeth is enrolled in the Digital Design program at Haney Technical Center. She is an artist and has always had a passion for art and technology. After she graduates from Haney she hopes to further her education at Gulf Coast State College learning digital animation and hopefully to then attend the Art Institute. She said she has always wanted a career in a creative field and is happy to start her career at Haney Technical Center. She thanks the Haney Foundation for giving her the opportunity to continue to achieve her goals.
Shawn would like to thank the Haney Foundation for providing the opportunity to continue his education at Haney Technical Center. He states that this class will provide him with the editing and publishing skills needed in the profession he has chosen as his career choice. He says the support of Haney Foundation is much appreciated and he is very thankful.
Amber is enrolled in Medical Administration. She would like to thank the Haney Foundation for awarding her this scholarship so that she can continue her education. Amber states this scholarship gives people the opportunity to change their lives, brighten their futures, and make them feel better about themselves. Amber says she will dedicate her time and strive to do her best in her studies. She is not only doing this for herself but for her daughter as well.

Nancy Putnik was an employee at Sallie Mae for the past 15 years. The poor economy led to her layoff in 2009. After searching for a job she realized that she would need some additional training to be employable in this area. Most of the jobs are related to the medical field so Nancy decided to take classes in the Medical Administrative program. Nancy is more than half way through her program now, making all A’s and B’s. Were it not for the Haney Scholarship Foundation she would not have been able to continue her education.

Jenny Dykes is enrolled in the Administrative Assistant program at Haney Technical Center. She has an “A” average and is striving to gain employment in a more than minimum wage job. She says that she is extremely excited to finally learn computer and business applications and greatly appreciates the help from the Foundation for further her education.
Juanita Brown is a senior in the Practical Nursing program at Haney Technical Center. She is a single parent of an 8 year old daughter, and twin-3 year old sons. This is not just a chance for a better career for Juanita; it also allows her to provide better care for her daughter, who is severely hearing impaired. She is extremely grateful to the Foundation for helping with her tuition.

Ms. Givens began the Practical Nursing program in January 2008. She currently is employed at Pulmonary Associates.
Ms. Mossholder is working towards a new career in the medical area.
Ms. Perez is working to complete her education as an Auto Mechanic.
Ms. Jarvis is employed by the Bay County Sheriff's Department and is currently enrolled in the AC/Ref/Heating Technology program at Haney.
